Ofsted 2024, Beal Vale Primary School

We are excited to announce an opportunity for an exceptional finance professional with the right blend of skills, talents, experience, and values to become the next Chief Financial and Operational Officer (CFOO) at Crompton House Church of England Multi-Academy Trust - a small, local, growing and ambitious Trust, based in Oldham, Greater Manchester.

This vacancy has arisen due to the pending phased retirement of our current CFOO, who has been a valued member of our Trust since 2014. We are now looking for someone to work with us to move the Trust on to its next stage of growth as a true civic leader within a sustainable, self-improving and supportive system, making a significant difference to improving the lives of our children, and the communities in which they live.

The Chief Financial and Operating Officer will join our central senior leadership team. As a member of this team, the CFOO plays an important part in setting the strategic direction of the Trust, in addition to overseeing the operational leadership and management of all business services, including finance, procurement, Human Resources, and estates and facilities management.

The successful candidate will ensure a strategic and cohesive approach to the business operations of the Trust and, therefore, will need to demonstrate experience and/or knowledge of the areas that they oversee.

The CFOO will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and other members of the Executive Team. They will attend and present at Trust Board and subcommittee meetings, producing high-quality reports and updates. They will keep ahead of funding, compliance and legislative matters across the sector, providing robust longer-term strategy and planning that ensures the CEO and Trustees are able to make informed decisions.

This post offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and enthusiastic professional to join our growing multi-academy Trust. All the work of the CFOO will be rooted in supporting all our schools to ensure the best outcomes for each and every pupil.

We are looking for a leader who is strategic and innovative but is not afraid to 'roll up their sleeves' - when needed.

The deadline for applications is 13th September2024 at 12 Noon.
Interview and selection will be the following week
We would like the successful candidate to start as soon as possible, but we realise that notice periods can be variable, and we are prepared to discuss the best start date for the right candidate.

*Salary will be between £70,000 and £75,000 depending upon the successful candidate's experience and current remuneration.
**A Relocation bonus compliant with Inland Revenue Guidelines is available if a house move is necessary for the successful candidate to take up the role.

"The school has put in place a well-thought-out curriculum. This ensures that pupils build their knowledge from topic to topic and across subjects. Pupils study a broad range of subjects, including the English Baccalaureate suite of subjects. This prepares them well for the future."

The Trust, Its Strategic Plan and Its Financial Performance

“St Thomas is a safe, happy school. Pupils enjoy their learning and feel valued. All the children that we met told us that they do not worry about bullying. They trust staff to act quickly if there are any problems.."

"The school is ambitious for everyone. Staff work hard to encourage, inspire and support all pupils, whatever their background or ability. Pupils do well in a range of subjects, including English and mathematics. They concentrate and work hard."

Ofsted 2019, St Thomas' CofE Primary School

“This is a school where pupils are safe and well cared for. Staff make pupils’ welfare their top priority. Pupils trust the school’s staff to help them when they have worries.

Pupils rise to the high expectations that leaders have of them, both in their work and their conduct. In lessons, pupils work hard and are keen to succeed. They are learning well in all classes, from early years to Year 6. Pupils behave well. They move around the school sensibly. They are kind and considerate towards each other.
They are courteous and polite to adults.."

Ofsted 2023, St Hugh's C of E Primary School

Crompton House C of E Multi-Academy Trust is a small but high-performing Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) based around the town of Oldham, just north of Manchester and close to other proud northern towns such as Bolton, Bury, Middleton and Rochdale.

At the start of 2024, Crompton House CofE MAT included the following institutions:
Crompton House CofE School, a secondary school with1800 on roll, the founder school of the Trust, joining in January 2019.
Beal Vale Primary, with 206 pupils, who joined the Trust in September 2019.
St Thomas’ C of E Primary with 420pupils, who joined us in November 2023.
St Hugh's C of E Primary with 210 pupils, who also joined us in November 2023.

It is anticipated by the MAT Strategic Plan that in order to be in a position to benefit fully from economies of scale and to continue to have a significant educational impact over a number of institutions, the MAT needs to work, over time, towards having an overall total student number of approximately 10,000 (likely to be between 15 and 20 institutions, of all phases and sizes).
It must be achieved through prudent and measured growth, incorporating schools with significant school improvement capacity, as well as those that are vulnerable at the point of entry into the MAT.
